Subsidies to farmers will be paid by the end of March, assured Deputy Minister Svetlana Boyanova during a conference on the future of the CAP after 2013 in Blagoevgrad,.

"The ministry understands the need of farmers to receive financial support at the beginning of the active agricultural season," said Deputy Minister Boyanova, stressing that this way farmers can buy on the necessary seeds, fertilizers to make spring sowing in the areas as well as  to perform all agrotechical activities in the areas already sown”.

Minister Boyanova stressed that  pursuant to the regulation, the time limit for payment of  the 2010 direct payments is June 30, but the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, taking into account  the real needs of farmers, intends to start payments in mid-March and complete by the end of March.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov in his turn assured that all the necessary checks for compliance with the areas declared according to the orthomap are carried out and that the ambition of his team  is farmers to actually receive the funds much earlier this year than  the term envisaged in the regulation. He added  further that at the moment the BSP is trying to create tension in the sector and throw out insinuations because it knows that the subsidies will be paid in March.
