Bulgaria has an exceptionally rich genetic diversity, which can be included in the world Gene Bank,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food, Professor Dimitar Grekov, at the opening of a joint Bulgaria-American working meeting themed the “Role of the Genetic Resources for the Successful Dairy and Meat Stock-Breeding” held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The event is organized by the ministry and the agriculture department with the U.S. Embassy to Bulgaria.

Minister Grekov pointed out that our country has a great interest to share the experience of the United States in genetic resources and explore opportunities for collaboration. “We have been working fruitfully with the Department of Agriculture to the U.S. Embassy more than 20 years. The shared experience is valuable for the development of our agriculture and it is a good basis for the development of future projects, "said Minister Grekov. Minister Grekov added that despite the big distance between the two countries they can exchange genetic resources and set the start of new species of plants and breed animals.
