Bulgaria is a reliable partner in the fight against FMD. That was commented by Executive Director of European Food Safety Authority EFSA Mrs. Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle during the press conference in Ministry of Agriculture and Food, after the meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov. Mrs. Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle stressed that Bulgaria is a key county, because it is European border and it is reliable partner in fight with FMD. EFSA provides scientific advices to Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria about the fight against FMD. Minister Naydenov said that EFSA is an extremely important organ and cooperation with it is our priority.
During the meeting Minister Naydenov and Executive Director of EFSA have discussed the standards of food introduced in our country. Mrs. Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle presented a research, made by EC, according to which Bulgarian consumers put the quality of products before their safety. Minister Naydenov said that he was glad that Mrs. Lanéelle agreed with the fact that the quality of foods has to be a priority.
Executive Director of EFSA is in our country for her first official visit after establishment of European Food Safety Authority in 2002.
