Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Prof. Dr. Georgi Kostov participates in the General Assembly of the Municipal Forests Association. The event was held in the University of Forestry - Sofia.
Deputy Minister Kostov underlined that the adoption of the Forestry Law is a great success and expressed his gratitude to the members of the Association for their active participation in its drafting. On the other hand the law brings great responsibility to the municipalities. Regulations that are professionally and expertly motivated are currently being drafted. It is extremely important to stimulate investment in the forestry sector development, Deputy Minister added.
The role of the Association increases. Decentralization which is being carried out with the implementation of the new Forestry Law brings increased responsibilities to the municipalities. Deputy Minister Kostov urged for greater activity in applying under forestry related measures of Rural Development Program 2007-2013. In conclusion he added that "forests are part of our future, but also of our children."
During the meeting, Dr. Eng. Tsenko Tsenov, an expert from the Executive Forestry Agency received an award for his active participation and contribution to the Forestry Law preparation from the Association.
