Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov met with representatives of the Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Producers “Poultry” direction in MAF. During the meeting were discussed issues, related to poultry, with the purpose of restructuring the sector and observing the requirements for the welfare of hen-layers.
Deputy Minister Dimitrov noted that Ministry of Agriculture and Food by using the possibility of Rural Development Program 2007-2013, provides to poultry breeders the opportunity for reconstruction of buildings for hens breeding. Applicants who applied under Measure 121 “Modernization of agricultural farms” were provided with a state aid and a credit of preferential loan rate.
Throughout the country, the total number of stock-breeding facilities, in which hens are bred is 121, including 162 158 hens. 39 farms of the facilities do not correspond to the requirements. According to the information of farm owners breeding hens in small cages, 32 farms need to be reconstructed, and another 7 should terminate stop their activity.
Deputy Minister Dimitrov said that an inspection of packaging centers will be carried out to verify the existence of contracts with eggs producers about compliance with requirements for marking and quality.
