There is no tension between the government and private veterinary practitioners, announced  Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr.Miroslav Naydenov after talks with Chairman of the Union of Veterinarians in Bulgaria Dr. Yordan Boychev. the Bulgarian MPs have been too busy passing the Election Code amendments, which has led to a delay in the new legislation on foods, necessary in order for the agency to be launched, the minister said. The agency was originally scheduled to begin operating on January 1, 2011 but it is expected to start operating on February 1 2011. The future agency as a receiver of the National Veterinary Service will arrange relations with private veterinary practitioners in connection with the mandatory prevention program. Minister Naydenov reminded that the activities in prophylactic immunotherapy of animals begin usually in March.

Despite the delay, private veterinarians will continue to perform their duties assured Dr. Boychev. He thanked Minister Naydenov for the timely and full payment of state debts to private veterinarians.

From NVS declared that the official veterinarians will issue animal health certificates for the movement of animals and will register the data into the information system of the National Veterinary Service.

Minister Naydenov promised to organize a meeting between the leaderships of the ministry, NVS and the National Council of the Union of Veterinarians in Bulgaria, where the problems of the sector to be discussed.
