Bulgarian consumers deserve to be treated equally with those in the European Union and it is important to defend their dignity. The statements came after Naydenov hosted a meeting with representatives of multinational companies, offering food to European and world markets.
During the meeting a survey conducted by the Slovak Association of Consumers, as according to its Chairman, Milos Lauko, there are differences in the content and taste of products marketed in the countries of Eastern and Western Europe, monitored in the survey. Milos Lauko provided detailed comparative tables of the percentage of the ingredients of the same products offered in 7 different Member States. His main argument was that food safety is guaranteed, but products offered on a single market must be with the same quality and content.
Minister Naydenov also underlined Bulgarian consumers had a right to know if there were differences in the quality of food products sold in order to make informed choices.
The companies Coca Cola Hellenic bottling company Bulgaria Ltd, Milka Bulgaria, Tchibo, Kraft Jacobs Europe, Nestle Bulgaria, Kotanyi which the survey concerns and which attended the meeting denied producing products of different quality for the different EU countries Executive Director of the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety Dr. Jordan Voynov and Prof. Yordan Gogov as well as Bogomil Nikolov, President of the Active Consumers Association attended the meeting
