“Bulgaria will provide expert’s assistance to Moldova in the process of synchronizing the legislation with that of the European Union,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy of Moldova Vitalie Yurku and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Vasile Luca. She highlighted that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is ready to train Moldovan experts in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary as well as in the fields of food safety, laboratory activities, and fodder control and in the participation in joint projects in these areas. "In the process of harmonization with EU legislation you should protect the national interest, according to the specifics of the activity of the country," he was clearly Taneva minister.

 

Minister of Agriculture and Food advised her Moldovan colleagues to preserve the diversified nature of agriculture.

 

During the meeting both countries expressed their intention to deepen cooperation in all areas of agriculture.Minister Taneva invited Moldovan companies to purchase Bulgarian tobacco or to process it on Bulgarian territory. In their turn, the two Moldavian officials insisted on the revision of the special guarantee amounting to 30% on imports of wine to Bulgaria, which Moldova firms are required to provide in Bulgaria. Executive Director of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine Krasimir Koev explained that the existence of this guarantee was a European requirement.

 

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Bulgaria Shtefan Gorda.
