Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov will meet tomorrow (November 2, 2011, Wednesday) Chris Rebstok, vice president of global foodbanking network They will discuss a project to launch a food bank in Bulgaria.


At 13:45 they will make statements to the media.

The Global Foodbanking Network (The GLobal FoodBanking Network, GFN) is an international organization whose mission is to reduce hunger in the world, working actively for the establishment and development of food banks and food bank networks. At present, GFN operates in 19 countries around the world, as Bulgaria supports the methodological and expert work of the Forum "Food Banks." As of May 2011 in Europe under the banner of the European Federation of Food Banks (The European Federation of Food Banks, FEBA) operate 240 food banks in 21 countries. According to the FEBA in 2010 were distributed 359,960 tons of food totaling 992 million euros. With  the help of 27,660 organizations distribute food to needy people, they have reached and helped nearly 4.9 million people in Europe
