European Commission wants in new program period after 2014 vegetable growers’ associations to distribute state aid in different sectors of agriculture. That was announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov during his visit to a vegetable market close to the southwestern village of Karnalovo, Municipality of Petrich. There are no such kinds of associations in Bulgaria, said Minister. According to him, in this situation after 2014 we can lose money, because there will be no one to distribute them. The Minister further explained that a pilot project to create an association of vegetable growers in Petrich will be done.
Additionally vegetable growers, who take part in association can negotiate lower prices of fuels, chemicals etc. Minister stressed that European funds are allocated to 100% to support association, offices, equipment etc. While you still remain small farmers you have no opportunities to fight against traders, resellers and commercial chains, explained Minister.
