Natural and legal persons, who are forest owners, can perform logging alone or by assigning them to the state forestry or hunting enterprises or traders, registered in Forest Area Activities Register. Logging should be done upon observation of common requirements for forestry use, regulated by Forestry Law.

Clearings in private forests are made based on a logging permission, issued by qualified person with a degree in higher forestry education. Control over logging, as well as certification activities of the cutting area are carried out by the person, to whom the permission was issued.  Approved forestry plans or forestry programs are also necessary to be prepared. The private forest owner can on his own to produce timber on condition that he has in advance signed a contract with a person, registered to carry out forest silvicultural practise in the register of Executive Forestry Agency. This person is authorized to make markings of plants, prepare the documents for permission, as well as  to issue transport documents for the harvested wood.
