As of November 17, 2011 more than 98% of areas planted with maize grain were harvested. The resulting production based on preliminary data is about 2.05 million tons of maize. Production of maize for grain this year exceeds with nearly 120 thousand tons the 2010 harvest and with 730 thousand tons compared to that of 2009.
Continuous increase of the areas sown with maize grain was recorded in the last 3 years. In 2009 the size of land was 2.88 million dca; in 2010 was 3.14 million dca, while in 2011 they reached 3.76 million dca.
