Today, in Official newspaper of European Union 341/22.12.2011 was published Regulation 137/21.12.2011 for the entry from flat-sausage from Gorna Oryahovitsa (Gornooryahovski sudzhuk) as a protected geographical indication in European register of protected designation of origin and protected geographical indications. This is the first Bulgarian protected geographical designation according to European Policy of quality.
Control over legitimate use of the designation to market and in producers according to national legislation will be carried out by Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
