Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov explained Bulgarian position on changes in Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2014-2020 during a roundtable discussion on the CAP of EU, organized by National association of Grain Producers in Plovdiv.
“Committee on Agriculture and Forestry discussed these changes and for the first time it was unanimous for Bulgarian position”, said Minister Naydenov.
Bulgaria stands behind induction, even doubling the ceiling of payments which leading to more equitable distribution of subsidies. Our country also supports the induction of concept “active farmers” to which to be directed funds for supporting, also the equal start between Member States in the allocation of subsidies. Among changes that are categorically not support are requested from some Member States reducing of funds for agriculture from the general budget of EU. Our country stands against “Planting of CAP” in which 30% of the package with euro funds should go for ecological projects, which would require changing and of growing crops.
Minister Naydenov noticed that for the first time the word of Bulgaria is heard in EU and it is important even for old Member States. Recently Minister of Agriculture of Germany visited our country to acquaint with our position, related to changes, added Minister Naydenov. He appealed for public discussion by farmers of these changes and their influence over agriculture in our country. “You have chosen me as a Minister and therefore I will defend our position such as you make it”, said he.
Held roundtable was part of National Agro Seminar “Five Years Together” on the occasion of 5 year anniversary of National Association of Gain Producers. It was attended by Chairman of Committee on Agriculture and Forestry to the National Assembly Desislava Taneva, Chairman of National association of Grain Producers Radoslav Hristov and experts from MAF, who showed presentations for “Legislative changes of EU” and “Irrigated agriculture”.
