The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) will launch a hotline for consumers, 0700 122 99, on April 18. Operators will receive signals and questions related to the agency's activity every day from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., including on weekends and holidays.
BFSA already has its own website,
www.babh.government.bg. It offers detailed information on BFSA's activity, structure, and the contacts of all its regional units and laboratories where consumers can send alerts and complaints about violations, and express their impressions related to the agency's activity by filling in an electronic form. Consumers can find useful information, for example what they should look for on food labels and which animal diseases are harmful to humans. Representatives of the business community can find detailed information on Bulgarian and EU legislative documents.
The website also offers samples of documents related to sectors under BFSA's control, including food control, healthcare and humane treatment of animals, and phytosanitary control.
A separate section of the website contains information on all food standards - for meat preparations, bread and dairy products.
