Experts from Department of the Natural Park “Balgarka” with Executive Forest Agency will present rare and threatened with extinction sheep breed from Sredna Stara Planina at the National Exhibition on Animal Farming in Sliven. It will be held on October 7-8, 2011.
With the participation in the event experts will promote among the farmers the sheep breed resistant to temperature amplitude and viruses, which is successfully bred on the park territory almost two years.
The certified flock of sheep is part of the activity for recovering and supporting of biological variety of high-mountain meadows and pastures under “Environment” Program.
These breed of sheep have very good adaptivity to the harsh climate conditions. They are mobile, with well-developed instinct for self preservation and actively seeking, understanding and using of pastures. The average wool length is 11-19sm. Milk oiliness is high – between 8 and 10, 5 %.
Visitors to the exhibition can assure themselves in high ecological value of products from the special race. Milk and diary products, as well as specially designed wool blankets will be presented to the audience and jury.
