From 20 - 26 October 2011 Bulgarian Food Safety Agency carried out inspections in all the establishments for production and bottling of vegetable oils - sunflower oil, rapeseed oil etc. The results of these checks show:
- Total number of establishments checked - 73.
- Total number of prescriptions issued - 15 pcs.
- Establishments with temporarily suspended activities - 1.
The most common violations are associated with lack of records for incoming control of raw materials and incomplete systems for managing food safety, gaps in the product labeling.
The establishment with the temporarily suspended activity is an industrial unit for refining and bottling of oils in Pleven. Regional Directorate for Food Safety - Pleven has issued such an order for abnormal flow of technological process and failure to implement good hygiene and manufacturing practices that pose a risk to the safety of the products.
In all establishments checked throughout the country organoleptic evaluations of manufactured products were made and no incompliance in flavor, color, flavor and clarity were found.
From 24 to 28 October 2011 inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency carried out 3680 inspections the under official control at the establishments in the commercial network and catering facilities, manufacturing plants and warehouses for storage and food trade, where the following were found :
- Total number of prescriptions issued - 353 pcs.
- Total number of issued statements of administrative violations - 82 pcs.
- Total number of closed establishments /establishments with suspended activity - 26 pcs.
- Banned products - 612 kg.
The most common violations are associated with poor hygiene, gaps in systems for self-non-selective preservation of food, lack of documents for the origin of the food, trading food with expired validity date.
