Bulgaria and Belarus signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of agriculture and food safety. This happened during the plenary meeting of the V session of the Bulgarian-Belarusian intergovernmental commission for trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, which was held in the city of Minsk, Republic of Belarus. Agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov, who announced that cross-border cooperation is of extreme importance to the agriculture sector.

 

During the session, Deputy Minister Dimitrov stressed the need for the joint efforts of the states in the fight against animal diseases that can lead to big problems and economic losses. Minister Tsvetan Dimitrov had a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart, Mr. Igor Brill, where both discussed the opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of dairy sheep breeding, food safety, exchange of information on veterinary and phytosanitary certificates for trade.

 

The agreement aims to develop and strengthen the cooperation between Bulgaria and Belarus in the field of horticulture, livestock and rural development through joint consultation. A working group has been created with representatives of both ministries.
