Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov and Chairman of the Bulgarian Red Cross Mr. Hristo Grigorov provided food to socially weak people under the "Charity" Program in the social center BRC Multi-Plovdiv. From November1 to November 22 will be carried out the last – third tranche for providing of food products under the Program.

The scheme is administered by the State Fund "Agriculture" in partnership with the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) and the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety (BABH). For this purpose, were discovered more than 342 temporary Red Cross Points throughout the country, where volunteers handing out aid.
    
 "The program is funded with European funds and oriented to the most vulnerable strata of society," said Minister Naydenov. The budget amounts to EUR 11,042,840, including 103,318 tons intervention stocks and financial resources for transportation and administrative costs. The Minister pointed out that food is distributed personally according to predefined lists prepared by the Social Assistance Agency.

Citizens who have received energy assistance from the "Social Assistance” for the 2010/2011 heating season have right of support under the "Charity" Program. Two more groups were included to receive support with changes made in the ordinance for the food distribution from intervention stocks for socially disadvantaged persons, made on the initiative of the SFA and MAF The first target group covers mothers and adoptive mothers who receive child support for up to one year old, and the second - the families of children with disabilities. The two new groups were included in the second charity tranche.
   
If at the end of the year following the three tranches unspent amounts remain available, with the authorization of the State Fund "Agriculture" they will be donated to residential care homes for people with low social status. The event was attended by newly elected Mayor of Plovdiv Ivan Mr. Totev.
