Profits of state forestry enterprises since their establishment in the middle of last year till the end of 2011 amounts to BGN 3.5 million, announced Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov at the opening of "Forest Week" 2012 in Vratsa.
According to him, the sector has relied on government support, and now they are self-subsistence. This year's motto of the Forest Week is " Forest for the children." Currently, children sit only in front of computers, while we want them to play in nature, said Minister Naydenov. In his words, children need to practice winter sports. That’s why it is necessary bicycle paths and eco paths in the mountains to be made. Children need to exercise and for this purpose investments and infrastructure in the forests are necessary, he added.
Twice more wood can be harvested in the forests, because there are inaccessible forests that need sanitary logging. Environmentalists want nobody to enter in the woods, but facilities and infrastructure are necessary to be built to make people go to the forests.
