Forests are not just to be 100% conserved in the way they are, prohibiting normal access of people to them, but for winter sports practice, too, "said Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov during the public discussion of draft amendments to the Forestry Law in the National Assembly.
He added that the necessary assurance should be given that the best ideas to develop infrastructure in forests will lead to disruption of the ecological balance or illegal logging.
"It will be nice this debate to take place before the changes to be filed in the relevant committee. It is better things to be said in this format. This debate started, yet while the current Forestry Law was being prepared. In discussing the applicable law there were a lot of comments on some controversial texts of the law. There were certain concerns of representatives of communities and people engaged in forestry and tourism in skiing that texts set in current law are quite restrictive and will hamper the development of skiing or exploitation of forests, and we and our children to be healthier, "added Minister Naydenov. He stressed that it is important to enable children and young people to practice skiing in our country.
Minister Naydenov pointed out that in Austria, there are ski facilities of 3,000 km, in Italy - about 2,000 km., Czech Republic - 800 km., Slovenia - about 500 km., Romania 200 km, while in Bulgaria there are only 94 km.
He thanked the Minister of Environment and Water Mrs.Nona Karadzhova for her positive opinion on the proposed changes.
