Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tzvetan Dimitrov and Deputy Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency Anton Velichkov met with representatives of the Oilseed Oil Producers Association in Bulgaria in the building of MAF
The current state of oilseed oil production industry, including the production of oil sunflower and rapeseed in the country were discussed during the meeting.
Bulgaria is one of the main producers and exporters of black oil sunflower in Europe, as the quantity produced during the last three years varied from 1,300,000 to 1,388,000 tons. Export realization is about 50% of the total amount of produced sunflower.
The branch representatives put questions concerning complete traceability on the chain producer, processor and trader. Opportunities for future joint initiatives between the association for systematic quality control and BFSA concerning control implementation on marketed oils and oil products were also discussed. With these further inspections will be monitored product quality, packaging and labeling . Representatives of the Association expressed their willingness to assist BFSA with information and experience of professionals in the branch.
