Structural regulation of the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety (BAFS) is ready and a draft is published on the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Several days ago the Law for the Bulgarian Agency of Food Safety was published in the Official Gazette, as there is stated that within one month after its promulgation, structural regulation must be drafted and thereafter approved by the Council of Ministers.
The law itself stipulates the functions, structure and main management bodies of the agency, as well as the funding sources and material relations.
Structural regulation provides in details the functions and powers of the Central Management Office, Regional Directorates of Food Safety, Center for risk assessment and laboratories within the system of the Agency, as well as the hierarchical relationships between them.
With the approval of the Structural Regulation and its promulgation, the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety will start its full operation.
Until the enactment of the regulation, administrative structures and accredited laboratories which will be within the structure of the agency, continue to operate according to the previous order.
