For the period from 1 to 6 December 2011, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency carried out a total of 1392 inspections on places for sale of live, chilled and frozen fish throughout the country. Upon inspection the following has been found:
    
Total number of prescriptions issued – 21;
Total number of acts of administrative violations issued – 37;
Amount of prohibited and discarded products - 651 kg;

The most common violations are associated with, lack of accompanying documents, poor hygiene, gaps in self-control systems.
