Every day, consumers will be able to receive information about the actual prices of the main food products along the market chain producer- processor - trader on a website specially designed for the purpose, announced Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov after the opening of the International Hunting Exhibition “Venatoria "2011 in Madrid, where Bulgaria is a partner country. The website will be set up for the needs  of the surveillance the authority to monitor food prices at our country, which is expected to be established during one of the next meetings of the Council of Ministers. According to Minister Naydenov website will be a sort of 'virtual stock exchange of prices along the supply chain.

Consumers will be able to follow the food prices from producer to retail stage, as well as to report suspected irregularities in the production and marketing of food products.

Minister Naydenov said that the proposal to set up a special body to monitor food prices would be voted on at the next meeting of the Cabinet. The body will work with the National Revenue Agency and economic police against concealment of earnings and money laundering, he said.

"I cannot say whether setting up such a body will mean that prices will fall, but in any case it is good to know what is going on," Minister Naydenov added
