Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov met with a business delegation from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, led by Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Industry and Chairman of the Board Al-Deera Real Estate Development Company . Dr. Hatem Al Halawani At the meeting, Jordanian investors have expressed interest to buy land and build a logistics center in Bulgaria for the export of cattle and agricultural produce to Jordan and the Arab world.

Minister Naydenov noted that food production and export are priorities of the Bulgarian government. He pointed out that there are arable lands and pastures in our country, which still may be a subject of long-term investment. Furthermore, Bulgaria has large water resources and a strategic investor for Irrigation Systems State Enterprise is being currently sought. As for livestock breeding, there are opportunities to use European funding under the direct payments per area and national funding per capita, as well as export subsidies, low-interest loans for feed and equipment for the construction of farms according to the EU requirements. Forestry and fisheries resources are also among the sectors that provide good conditions for investments.

Next month, our country is expected a visit of a large Jordanian delegation to conduct negotiations on specific investments in various sectors of Bulgarian agriculture.
