The minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov announced today at the Port of Varna the beginning of mass inspections of the grain trade. The checks are to be carried following an order of the Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and will be under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Simeon Diankov, said Minister Naydenov. These actions will be joint between the National Service for Grain, the Economic Police, the National Revenue Agency and the Ministry of Transport. The teams are formed and will operate throughout the country, said the minister. 524,000 tons of wheat of the new crop have been exported. and 4.1 million tons have been gathered. The Services will be checking exporters, traders and producers while NRA will monitor for nay VAT diversions.

We start from the port and we will be monitoring the loading of ships; after that we trace chain backwards - the trucks, the dealers and the entire chain up to the producers, so that we see the origin of the grain, said the Executive Director of the National Service of Grain – Zlati Zlatev.

We want to investigate this business, which penalises the state budget by stripping the VAT and the grey sector, said Minister Naydenov. With regard to the prices of grain, he said the market had begun to stabilise and normalise. The Minister hopes that due to the poor harvest in Russia there will be no measures taken against exports of grain from the country. If that happens tension in the market may arise prices may rise, he added. He said that exactly this nervousness of the markets leads to the rising of prices.

"The harvest in Russia is rather low. We hope Russia does not prohibit exports which would reflect on international markets, "he said.

He said after three months the prices of food will fall. These 10 products are Bulgarian and thus we stimulate Bulgarian production. These are 10 products that are essential to the shopping basket of the poorest people of our population. This does not include delicacies or flat sausages. Even with this promotion, chains still offer different prices and there is high  competition. It's a question of promotion and retailers ensure that it will not be at the expense of producers.
