Dialogue with the grain producers is not broken down and has never stopped, announced Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov at the Council of Ministers, where together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov anticipated their meeting with the representatives of the National Association of GrainProducers. Deputy Prime Minister said that during the last month, wheat prices on international markets have fallen a lot, which suggests a fall in the price of bread in Bulgaria. "If our grain producers and traders acted as the producers in other countries around the world under conditions of market economy, a fall in the price of bread should have been already registered in our country," said Simeon Dyankov.
An analysis to see what is the global trend in the last three or four weeks and how much the price has fallen. According to Dyankov, the decline in price is nearly BGN100 per tonne of wheat. In his opinion, support in agriculture must be fair. Subsidies should be given not only grain production sector but also for animal breeders and for the producers of vegetables, roses, etc.
" Regulation, which to make clear what happens when some sectors have excessive profits for a certain year in reference to the global development of this sector should be drafted in the future. Grain producers had excessive profits for the last year, this year it seems to be the same and therefore those people who now creates pressure received thousands of leva more than expected, "explained Deputy Djankov.
Minister Naydenov stressed that the EU has minimum price levels for wheat - EUR101 per tonne. When the price is below that, the EU reacts to market by intervention and begins to buy to protect the minimum price. But when the wheat is t sold noat BGN 200 per tonne, but BGN 500 - 550, this is a great profit "he said. BGN 300 million as additional payments from national budget for 2011 tabout BGN 600 million European funding for arable land have been provided for grain producers. Therefore, we expected from grain producers things to happen on the basis of dialogue and talks, not on the basis of demonstrating equipment on the street, he added.
