The European Commission decided to reduce the FMD restrictive measures in areas of Varna, Shumen, Yambol, Sliven, Haskovo, Kardzhali and the greater part of Burgas region, as the Bulgarian Government appears to have coped successfully with the outbreak The draft measure has been backed by member states in the standing committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCoFCAH)

The EC had decided to reduce the size of the high-risk area to the two municipalities, encompassing Malko Turnovo and Tsarevo, and to include in the low-risk area only the three surrounding municipalities of the Bourgas region

The decision will come into force after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
